You Deserve Dessert

You Deserve Dessert is now available direct from the Author.

You Deserve Desert Cover

Welcome to dessert in fact, fiction and fable. Poems and mini-stories fuel a tongue in-cheek ride across dessert country where cakes become characters.

Meet a trio of proper tarts, the beast of mudcake, a fruit cake feigning holiness, crime caramel, a suave Sacher Torte, a lemon cheesecake “hiding under a designer pseudonym”, rock cakes with their “sedimentary looks… compliments of cook” and many more. All these with concrete cupcakes and a latte at no extra charge.

Reviews...

“The idea of one topic but many forms works well to give a playful range of
poems from the shape poems to the three-egg pantoum, to character sketches, a found poem, a metaphysical conceit, the letter and the dramatic monologue of the yoghurt pie; a book full of delights and a deal of wit.”
— Susan Hampton

You Deserve Dessert deserves you: a reader who is not afraid of wickedly indulging lashings of delicious poetry. You will help yourself to
surreptitious second helpings of these poems, which range from pithy
epigram to an Ode To Lemon Meringue Pie,
from celebrating Hazelnut Thins to facing one’s own mortality with cake.”
— David Musgrave

“Spice, sugar highs and sharp observation. Margo uses the best
ingredients. Food as a lens… original, funny, deft & hard.
In a whirl of flour we can see clearly.”
— Les Wicks
